20180309 – A Masterclass with Chef Cristina Bowerman from Michelin-starred Glass Hostaria, Rome – Italy

Chef Cristina Bowerman is an inspiration in the most male-dominated Italian world of haute cuisine. Respecting Italian traditions, she infused s crossbreed of styles and ingredients, much of which she picked up from Texas where she worked as graphic designer and Puerto Rica and through her experiences travelling.

Chef Cristina Bowerman is an Italian-born chef. She Originally studied foriegn languages and law, and worked as a graphic designer, before making the decision to become a chef. She studied culinary arts for two years at the University of Texas at Austin and trained at Le Cordon Bleu and began working as a chef when she returned to Italy in 2006.

In 2006, Bowerman began working at the Glass Hostaria restaurant in Rome and in 2010, won a Michelin star for her highly modern cuisine, and one of a select group of female to do so.

On Friday, 9th March 2018 HiclassSociety.com was invited to participate in “A Masterclass with Chef Cristina Bowerman from Michelin-starred Glass Hostaria, Rome – Italy”

Besides the Charismatic leadership in the kitchen and her stylish pink hair, we were truely impressed with Chef Cristina Bowerman’s cooking style and creativity for the masterclass menus;
* Tubers and salt cod
* Risotto, saffron, braised lamb shoulder, black pepper, pecorino cheese and fried mint
* Condensed milk, sanded almons and espresso gelatine

This masterclass is a part of the activities for “Women in Gastronomy (WIG) food forum” .

Women in Gastronomy (WIG) food forum

This unprecedented gathering of 15 top female chefs from Bangkok and beyond will be an epic culinary adventure from 10am to 5pm; a full-day of chef talks, presentations, panel discussions and plenty of food tasting (15 courses)! Each of these amazing chefs will each present on dish for tasting, and will tell the stories behind the dishes. The forum will be followed by a cocktail party at the Zuk Bar where guests can mix and mingle with the chefs over drinks and, yes, more food.

The leading female chefs confirmed to speak and cook for guests include Ana Ros from Hisa Franko in Slovenia (currently holding title as World’s Best Female Chef), Cristina Bowerman (1* Michelin from Rome), Martina Caruso (1* Michelin from Sicily), Bo from 1* Michelin Bo.lan, Magarita Fores (Asia’s Best Female Chef 2016) and many more. Each chef will cook and present dishes and tell stories around their dishes. Other top level speakers include Cindy Bishop and journalist Maria Canabal from Parabere Forum.
